Explainer videos

Hand-drawn animations bring your project to life

Explainer videos help you summarise your research findings or project outcomes, introduce organisational changes, or explain your company services. All in a simple, short, memorable, visually pleasing, human-centred way. We know people find a video engaging. Whether you post it on your website or play it at your conference, we help you connect with your audience.

We collaborate creatively with you to understand your content and your audience for your short explainer video – we guide you through every step of our process. We’ll work within your budget to produce a beautifully simple, short yet powerful hand-drawn animated video you’ll be excited to share with your audience.

Timelapse video

Following the process of doing a live graphic recording, we can create a timelapse video from your event or information to bring your message to life for your audience.

Digital explainer video

Bring your story to life with a hand-drawn animation. More engaging than a presentation, more memorable than just telling your story alongside images.

Analogue explainer video

See your story build up with my hand drawing on visual props (see below for an example with IKEA) filmed and edited for a unique human-centred animation.

The Fairsteps animation you’ve created for us is fabulous – thank you so much!

IKEA Mexico

BRIEF: To confirm the market viability of a new country IKEA franchisees conduct extensive Life at Home studies. Hundreds of photos, dozens of interviews with people in their homes. Too much to present to a Board to convey the essence of their findings. So IKEA turned to us to summarise their comprehensive report into a short analogue hand-drawn animated video. It was extremely well received, and contributed to the franchisee winning the Mexico market.

METHOD: This video was stop-motion filming of hand drawing on foamboard with pens and pre-prepared drawn props, using the Project Manager as narrator and with accompanying background music.

Your hand-drawn story really brought our Life at Home study to life and turned our extensive research into a memorable and engaging video we can share with pride

Barnsley Hospital NHS Trust INVITE Project

BRIEF: Following the completion of the INVITE research project, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust asked us to create a non-academic digital hand-drawn animation to bring the research results to life and make the findings more accessible to the research participant demographic.

METHOD: We used voiceovers from project participants and a project narrator, as well as background music, to bring INVITE’s project findings to the audience for NIHR funding, which they successfully gained. You can watch the full video here.

Feedback for the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust INVITE Project – final report: “I am pleased to inform you that the grant […] has been approved. The reviewers […] highlighted that the dissemination through videos was a powerful and different way to present findings.”

A note on Ai

We don’t use Generative Ai for our explainer videos. Our drawings are human created, our video editing is done by an experienced human and we’ll ask you to use a human for voiceovers. We believe in human-centred communication and think your audience can tell when you use Ai images, music or voices. Ai is useful for many things, but if you want to really connect with people, hand-drawn images along with a real human voice is a powerful way to reach your audience. Not using Ai for your key communications will tell your audience that you’re investing in connecting with them on a human level.
